Turn Me On

Inspired by a workshop given at ProtoSpace, the FabLab of Utrecht, this lamp was designed. The workshop aimed at giving visitors of ProtoSpace an introduction to the machines that they can use in a FabLab. This was done by giving people the opportunity to design a small lamp - that goes on when you turn it - in which all machines are involved. Based on this simple, though playful interaction a new shape was designed through an explorative process which involved various materials.

The final design is called Turn Me On. The lamp is made from one piece of polypropylene by using a laser cutter. A small electronic circuit (that houses a battery, sensor and LED) was made with a CNC router and placed inside the lamp.
